Such decoration was possible due to the metal guilloche engraving mastered by Breguet.

Breguet is a watch brand with very long and very interesting history. The brand was founded in 1775 by Abraham-Louis Breguet. Watches by this watch maker were incredibly popular with French celebrities. Soon he got an order for a watch for the Queen Marie Antoinette. The watch maker had to develop and to produce the world’s most complicated watch. The watch was presented to public only in 1827, four years after Breguet died. The Marie-Antoinette watch is still considered one of the world’s most luxury and most complicated watches.

In 1810 Breguet became the official supplier for French Royal Fleet. This resulted in creation of the famous Marine model that now is considered one of the world’s most popular models.

Since 1999 Breguet has been belonging to Swatch Group that is very faithful to the traditions of Breguet. Every single Breguet timepiece has its identification number. The brand produces a great variety of models, almost all the models come in limited editions. Today Breguet produces four basic lines: Classic, Heritage, Marine and Type XX Aeronavale.

In our constantly changing world, it is a wonder when a watchmaking company has a long history of operating. The longevity of a watch series is even more surprising. Omega miraculously managed to do both things. The company was founded in 1848, and the Omega Constellation series has been popular since 1952. The secret of the long-lasting popularity of the collection is quite simple. The design of the omeag watches is constantly updated, and new models often join the Omega Constellation family.
The watch to join the collection in 2007 was the Omega Constellation Quartz Chronograph. The timepiece was launched to celebrate the collaboration between the brand and one of the world golf events, the Mission Hills World Cup.
The Omega Constellation Quartz Chronograph is available in two versions – either in red gold or in titanium. The cases of both versions feature the signature “claws” of the Constellation series, first introduced in 1982. The version in red gold comes with a lacquer-coated bezel, while the bezel of the sportier titanium version of the timepiece is rubber-coated.
The dial of both models has an interesting colour and structure – it was blackened by PVD coating. The black dial is a perfect background for two counters at 3 and 6 o’clock, forming a figure of eight. The dial of the Omega Constellation Quartz Chronograph also features a date display window between 4 and 5 o’clock. The hour markers and the Dauphine style hands of the watch are coated with Super-Luminova to ensure that that the watch will be glowing brightly even in the dark.
Keeping up the sporty spirit of the design, Omega offers the timepiece with a black rubber strap.

There is always a person behind a company, a driving force whose values shape a brand policy. The person behind BVLGARI is Sotirio Bulgari. Having come from Greece to seek his fortune in Italy, the jeweller founded the company which has grown into a multinational luxury brand with a few product lines including handbags, fragrances, accessories, hotels and watches.

To celebrate its 125th anniversary, BVLGARI presented a watch dedicated to the founder of the Bvlgari empire – the Bvlgari Sotirio Quantieme Annuel. Creating this timepiece, the watchmakers of the brand took a more modern approach to the classic style. BVLGARI reinterpreted the formal watch and created something totally new and distinctive. The Bvlgari Sotirio Quantieme Annuel has a traditional round case and a leather strap, but the inside of the case and the dial are not at all traditional and boring.

The timepiece is powered by the BVL 360 Calibre, an in-house movement featuring annual calendar and 225° retrograde date complications. The latter one means that the date hand, moving along a 225° arc, jumps back to “1” at midnight of the last day of each month.

The dial of the Bvlgari Sotirio Quantieme Annuel watch combines different textures. The hand-applied Roman numerals and indexes are faceted, while other elements of the dial have a satin finish-surface. The case of the watch is also treated in different ways to achieve an interesting aesthetic effect. For instance, the case band of the timepiece is brush-finished while the case lugs are highly-polished.

As it is usual for luxury brand products, the number of watches produced is limited. Only 250 pieces are available in pink gold and 125 pieces – in white gold.

At first sight, rubber and luxury seem to be incompatible. But it turns out that they can perfectly coexist. The first brand to prove that this is possible was Hublot. Thirty years ago, the company created a gold watch with the first natural rubber strap in the watchmaking history. Since then, rubber elements have become a trademark of the brand.

Naturally, the Hublot Red Devil Bang II features a rubber strap. The watch was created to commemorate the sponsorship deal that Hublot made with the football club Manchester United. Not that it is difficult to guess it by the name of the timepiece – as every football fan knows, the Red Devil is the official mascot of the team.

Both the case and the bezel of the Hublot Red Devil Bang II are made from satin-finish ceramic that makes it feel and look sporty. The unique look of this material is accented by two red bezel lugs on both sides of the case. The hour markers and the Manchester United logo at 3 o’clock are also in red. The bezel of the case features six H-shaped screws that have become a signature of the Hublot Big Bang watch series.

To make more obvious the relations of Hublot with the world of football, the watchmakers of the brand have designed a special 45-minute chronograph counter at 9 o’clock. Using this counter, the owner of the watch can measure one half of a football match.

Hublot has produced a limited number of the Hublot Red Devil Bang II – just five hundred people have become lucky owners of the timepiece. The proceeds from the sale have been used for promoting sports related activities.

Since 1860 Tag Heuer created unique timepieces that in a few years transformed into symbols of reliability and durability of watchmaking. The brand set the standards of precision developing the world’s best timekeepers, chronographs and water-resistant watches.

The brand that along its history was linked mainly to sports, being the official timekeeper of Olympic Games, Formula One and many other sporting activities is looking forward to create new precise movement timepieces. It seems that Tag Heuer cannot survive without sports. That is why it creates beautiful watches that include a lot of useful functions that one can truly appreciate.

The year 2006 is the one in which Tag Heuer focuses mainly on precision. This is because of the brand’s participation at the BaselWorld Wristwatch show. Throughout its history the company was one of the first to create chronographs that were able to measure 1/10th, then 1/100th and 1/1000th of a second. These chronographs were created simultaneously and were the only and the best in their field.

In the year 2006 Tag Heuer introduced its concept of the chronograph called Monaco Calibre 360 LS. The abbreviation LS stands for Linear Second. The design of the watch was inspired by Tag Heuer’s Monaco V4. The watch has a lot of useful aspects that really add a lot of exclusivity to it.

Continuously creating timepieces with additional functions Tag Heuer seems to never stop. Thus the main features of the Monaco Calibre 360 LS are as follows: a chronograph counting 1/100th of a second, a 15 minute counter, 100minute indicator of the power reserve, and a LS indicator.

Once again Tag Heuer proves its dedication to sports. Another page in the brand’s history is written and it looks like its book has a very long way before it reaches its finish.

A. Lange and Sohne currently welcomes everyone interested to visit a unique exhibition organized at the premises of the Company in Glashutte. The exhibition called ‘From Dresden to Glashutte – the roots of precision watchmaking in Saxony’ displays the selected timepieces that make part of the collection of the ‘Mathematisch-Physikalischen Salon.’ The collection keeps track of the precision watchmaking evolution at the Court of Saxony to the establishment of the horological industry in the Ore Mountains.

Before the selected part of the collection moved to Glashutte, its historically important timepieces were housed in the Mathematisch-Physikalischen Salon in the Dresdner Zwinger. The collection represents one of the most important and interesting horological collections in the world. It sheds the light to the history of producing precision clocks and watches in the period from the 16th to 19the century, which reached its peak in Europe at that time.

The art of watchmaking in Saxony was really prominent. Being supported by the Electors of Saxony and August the Strong in particular, the watchmaking in the region had reached a remarkable level of achievement by the early 19th century. The city had gained the prestigious reputation as the center of clock- and watch-production, and its fame crossed the borders of Saxony and extended far beyond.

The Court Watchmakers and Principals who belonged to the Mathematisch-Physikalischen Salon, with such famous names as Seyffert, Schumann and Gutkaes, introduced brilliant constructional ideas. They became the protagonists of a success story that led to the foundation of the watchmaking industry in Glashutte in 1845 by the Dresdner Ferdinand Adolph Lange.

In spring 2007, the Mathematisch-Physikalische Salon was closed for conducting thorough renovation work. It will be reopened only in 2009 and is meant to comprise almost double the display area by that time. At the moment 40 selected exhibits from the horological collection of the Salon are displayed at the premises of A. Lange and Sohne in Glashutte.
