The watch is equipped with self-winding RJ2 automatic tourbillon movement with cute anchor shaped rotor. The mechanism of the watch features 72 hour power reserve and 27 jewels.
The tourbillon cage of the Tourbillon Steampunk is supported by a beveled steel bridge. The cage performs a full revolution every 60 seconds. The case back of the timepiece features a sapphire crystal exhibition window through which the off-centered winding rotor can be admired.
The Romain Jerome Tourbillon Steampunk Ala Grande is 50 mm wide. It is quite a big watch and Ala Grande part of its name comes from the size of the timepiece. The case of the watch is made out of rusted, satin finished and polished steel, titanium and rubber. The case uses 80 rivets that are hand applied all over the bezel and six sided screws attached to the polished steel “claws”. The claws are available in a variety of materials: stainless steel, pink gold or black ceramic. The bezel is made out of a mixture of real material that was taken from the RMS Titanic shipwreck, found at the depth of 3840 meters and steel got from Harland & Wolff.
The Romain Jerome Tourbillon Steampunk Ala Grande looks very peculiar, because instead of dial it features exposed springs and rods that are meant to remind the user of a ship’s engine room. The watch has large hands that are coated with Superluminova.
