There is always a person behind a company, a driving force whose values shape a brand policy. The person behind BVLGARI is Sotirio Bulgari. Having come from Greece to seek his fortune in Italy, the jeweller founded the company which has grown into a multinational luxury brand with a few product lines including handbags, fragrances, accessories, hotels and watches.
To celebrate its 125th anniversary, BVLGARI presented a watch dedicated to the founder of the Bvlgari empire – the Bvlgari Sotirio Quantieme Annuel. Creating this timepiece, the watchmakers of the brand took a more modern approach to the classic style. BVLGARI reinterpreted the formal watch and created something totally new and distinctive. The Bvlgari Sotirio Quantieme Annuel has a traditional round case and a leather strap, but the inside of the case and the dial are not at all traditional and boring.
The timepiece is powered by the BVL 360 Calibre, an in-house movement featuring annual calendar and 225° retrograde date complications. The latter one means that the date hand, moving along a 225° arc, jumps back to “1” at midnight of the last day of each month.
The dial of the Bvlgari Sotirio Quantieme Annuel watch combines different textures. The hand-applied Roman numerals and indexes are faceted, while other elements of the dial have a satin finish-surface. The case of the watch is also treated in different ways to achieve an interesting aesthetic effect. For instance, the case band of the timepiece is brush-finished while the case lugs are highly-polished.
As it is usual for luxury brand products, the number of watches produced is limited. Only 250 pieces are available in pink gold and 125 pieces – in white gold.
